Go and talk to the 77pct, Detective Duffy and ask him who was behind the well orchestrated blood libel against 7 Shomrim members?

TURF WAR: Binyamin Lifshits refuses to negotiate with a rival Orthodox Jewish patrol group.

The NYPD is trying to settle a long-running dispute between two rival Orthodox Jewish patrol groups – and keep them from taking the law into their own hands – by uniting them into one police-supervised unit, The Post has learned.

The challenge is getting them to cooperate.

Shmira and Shomrim, private crime-patrol organizations in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, have been rivals since the late ’90s, when they split.

Shmira has agreed to the merger, which was proposed in June. Shomrim has refused.

The plan would create a united, NYPD-trained patrol group the department would supervise and partially fund, a source said.

Shomrim spokesman Binyamin Lifshits says the group is concerned that the NYPD would monitor all emergency calls – including private matters like domestic disputes, which the Orthodox community wants to settle on its own.

But Shomrim’s larger objection is with Shmira, which Shomrim has accused of trying to sabotage its operations by slashing patrol-car tires, making prank emergency calls and falsely informing on Shomrim to the police.

“We don’t sit down with Shmira,” Lifshits said of his rivals, which split from Shomrim in 1999 after certain members were thrown out for alleged past criminal activity.

“The police are trying to twist our arms to work with them. This we cannot accept.”

But Yossi Stern, 38, the director of Shmira, laughs at claims made against his group.

“It’s all a bunch of rhetoric. Show me a police report,” he said. “We’re not out to harass anybody. We’re out to do a service for the community.”

The NYPD has long been frustrated with both patrols. It came to a head this year on April 14 when a member of Shmira attacked the black college-student son of a police officer.

The resident, who lives at 1442 Union Street had last seen her mezuza on Friday. The resident whose mezuzas went missing over Shabbos called Shmais.com to inform him of the fact. Shmais.com advised the resident to call Shmira. Police Officers arrived and after inquiring about the value of the mezuza and whether this had happened before on the neighborhood, filed a report.

But a comment I will add:

He [Gurfinkal] says he asked a Rov, and that the “ROV” told him he can masser!. First: That is a blatant lie, for no Rov would give permission for outright slander and messira.

Second: Rabbi Schwei was approached and asked if he gave these mossrim permission to do massira, and he said he doesn’t know anything about it! And he is the Rov they recognize.

Third: Let’s say for arguments sake that they went to a different “Rov” and they got permission for this vicious messira, then regarding such a “Rov” the Gemara says in massechta  Taanit that if someone is a Talmid Chacham (Torah scholar) and acts properly and fairly, which means not only is he learned, but that his learning has an affect on his day to day activities and the way he handles himself , so on such a Rov it says you should “eat” from I.e learn from, but if not, if this ROV only knows how to learn but he DOESN’T ACT accordingly on such a ROV we say, go far away from him and have nothing to do with him! So even if they claim a ROV gave them permission, in the books he ain’t no ROV!

Also if this so-called ROV was a real ROV how come he didn’t contact shomrim and ask to hear their side of the story? Doesn’t the Torah, our guide in life say that a ROV or Dayan (judge) before he issues a psak (verdict) must investigate first? So even if they got permission from the so-called “ROV”, well this Rov himself operated against Torah! And as the Talmud says ” diveri harav vdiveri hatalmid, diveri mi shoimin? (“Words [of torah] from the Rabbi/teacher [or] from a student, whos do you listen to?”) word Which means when Hashem writes in the Torah a Halacha (law) and a “ROV” comes along and opposes it he can be the most learned man in all the land, we still listen to the Torah!.
