In Memoriam: Andrew Breitbart (1969-2012)

March 1, 2012

Source: bigjournalism.com

With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart

WIS: Andrew Breitbart was a great inspiration and will surly be missed.

Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles.

We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.

Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.

Andrew recently wrote a new conclusion to his book, Righteous Indignation:

I love my job. I love fighting for what I believe in. I love having fun while doing it. I love reporting stories that the Complex refuses to report. I love fighting back, I love finding allies, and—famously—I enjoy making enemies.

Three years ago, I was mostly a behind-the-scenes guy who linked to stuff on a very popular website. I always wondered what it would be like to enter the public realm to fight for what I believe in. I’ve lost friends, perhaps dozens. But I’ve gained hundreds, thousands—who knows?—of allies. At the end of the day, I can look at myself in the mirror, and I sleep very well at night.

Andrew is at rest, yet the happy warrior lives on, in each of us.

Dirty Spending Secrets

January 13, 2012

Washington liberals don’t want you to know . . .

It’s the seedy underbelly of Washington, D.C. The hallways of Congress are often dark alleys of wasteful spending and pork-laden deal-making. Down these lanes, shadowy special interests and empire-building bureaucracies lie in wait to relieve innocent taxpayers of their hard-earned money. They spend billions on wasteful programs, pet projects, and the accumulation of personal power. They threaten to bankrupt our country as our national debt soars out of control.

The victims often don’t even know it’s happening. Many don’t realize how bad it is. Do you?

Take the following test to see if you can detect five of the dirty spending secrets Washington doesn’t want you to know . . .

For Heaven’s Sake – The Tell Tale Signs of Destructive “Machlokes”

June 26, 2011

by Rabbi Yoseph Kahanov, Jax Fl.

Izzy sat faithfully at his wife Norma’s side, every day for several months, as she slipped in and out of a coma.

One day as Norma came to; she looked at Izzy with tear-filled eyes. “Izzy, my Izzy,” she said, “You have been with me and stood by me during my toughest times:
When I lost my job, you were there.
When my first hairdressing business failed, you stood by me.
When I got hit by that car, you were with me.
When we lost our dear Jonathan, you were there for me.
When my health started to fail, you stayed by me.”

Yesterday And Today The Story Always Remains The Same

March 19, 2011

When Mordechai, a proud Jew, refused to bow down, Haman was infuriated. He resolved to take revenge against all the Jews and throw lots to determine the “lucky” day when he would implement his plan. The lot fell on the 13th day of the Hebrew month of Adar…

…Haman left the party a happy and proud man. Oh the honor he was being accorded! But standing at the king’s gate was Mordechai – who still refused to bow to Haman – and Haman was enraged. When he arrived home, his wife and wise advisors counseled him to erect a gallows, and then to go to the king and request permission to hang Mordechai. Haman excitedly went ahead and put up the gallows…

…The king was greatly angered. When he was then informed that Haman had built a gallows for Mordechai, he ordered that Haman be hanged on that very gallows…

…And the Jews in Shushan were oh so happy. Celebrations abounded!…

…On the 13th of Adar that year, the Jews throughout the Persian Empire mobilized and killed the enemies who had wanted to kill them. In Shushan, among the dead were Haman’s ten sons…

Our enemies have appeared throughout history and have representatives in every class and society. They are distinguished by their irrational, undisguised malice and never miss an opportunity to cause harm.

The reason we can’t fulfill this commandment to destroy Amalek today is because Sancharive dispersed all the nations and mixed everybody up, and we don’t know who Amalek is. Chances are that the Jewish nation has some from the nation of Amalek.

Well they are finally coming out of the closet and reveling themselves to us. Yes, right here in Crown Heights.

May the end of the Amalek’s/Mossrim of this generations be as their forefathers. May we merit to see very soon, the Mosrim hanging from the very same gallows they prepared for the others; the righteous Jews.

Need Your Help Exposing Corruption in our Community

January 18, 2011

WIS strives to help you the public, by exposing corruption in all it’s forms. Knowledge is power, and knowledge can protect you from the corruption that runs rampant in many sections of our society. Corrupt and unethical organizations, institutions, and individuals thrive in the darkness of public ignorance and apathy.

Help WIS take back the power, educate yourself with information on how corruption can be exposed, and excised. If you have a story of corruption that you would like to share with the community, please do so by sending your story to:

whoisshmira@gmail.com

You will remain anonymous at all times.

Those who have worked with WIS know that I don’t even inquire as to who they are, to WIS that’s irrelevant. What is relevant is what they are saying and what they are sending (true or not true?).

Together we can take back our community.

*WIS is interested in corruptions of all kinds.

Lesson Of The Day: Who Lies? Who Tells the Truth?

December 15, 2010

There is a saying in the Talmud:

“A person will not say lies, which can easily be discovered”.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe of blessed memory asked a question based on the above statement, as follows, we still see that people lie in any case, even when the facts, truth can be discovered, so what does the above statement really mean?

The Rebbe answers: When we look into the wording of the Talmud it says INSHEI [Person] which means a Mensch, however someone who is not a Mensch can boldly lie to you in the face even on something, which you know now, is a lie.

Free and Fair Election!!!

Resume/Qualification for Rov in Crown Heights Beth Din

In order to qualify as a candidate for Rov, according to Rabbi Rosenberg’s Psak, the individual

1.     Must have Smicha
2.     Needs be at least 40 years old.
3.     Must submit their candidacy by the 26th of Av
4.     Needs to be recommended by either Rabbis Osdoba or Schwei

In the case of Rabbi Braun

1.       He had no Smicha
2.       He was younger than 40
3.       He submitted his candidacy twenty days late, a short ten days before the election.
4.       Rabbi Schwei does not know him at all.  He only endorsed him based on the recommendation of Mendel Hendel. As Rabbi Schwei himself said ” now that I spent a few days with him, I see he is a Finer Yungerman”

Based on the above facts (and the way the elections took place), the Crown Heights community can and should demand a new Democratic election.

Anybody and everybody should have a chance to submit their candidacy.

The argument is simple:

All you need is a name and your good to go

Many conditions were put in place in the Psak Din to qualify one to become a candidate for Rov. Since it turns out that known of these qualifications really matter (as we see in the case of Braun)  then we must give anybody who wants chance to run as the next Rov of Crown Heights regardless if they don’t have Smicha or are under the age of 40.

I’m sure there are many young individuals (and even older) who would have put in their own candidacy had it not been for the initial conditions. I know many young men under the age of 40, which are learned (in all aspects of Torah) and who actually have Smicha.

In general, Rabbi Rosenberg went with this theory of “let the people decide”. When Chanina Sperlin and Elie Poltorak were challenged on grounds of Messira , Rabbi Rosenberg went with the attitude of  “the people of Crown Heights will decide”.

WIS will not get in to how stupid and irresponsible that attitude was and is. But going with that attitude [playing along], we must now have new elections giving all and any  a free and fair chance in these elections and “the people will decide”.

Only this time we will verify and properly investigate  all those running, it will of course be OK if the person has no qualification, we will make all information available to the public and the public will decide.

EXCLUSIVE: Possible Lawsuit Against Rebbi Rosenberg

November 21, 2010

In the last week WIS has received numerous emails calling our attention to possible legal action against the Zabla Bais Din. All this as Rabbi Rosenberg has to come to a final decision over Braun candidacy, and Braun promoters want to bring Braun in for Yud Tes Kislav to CROWN him Rov, regardless if he has Smicha or not. The emails allude to the fact that the Zabla Beth Din, primarily Rabbi Avraham Rosenberg, have violated his own verdict – Psak Din.

“What was the point of the Psak if  in the end nothing in it really matters?” asked one resident. He continued “Your trying to rebuild a Bais Din that the community should take seriously, while the whole Psak on which its based is one big joke” is this the way things are done “My 13 year old son has the same eligibility” he added. “He’s under 40, No Smicha, and even knows how to use a Blackbarry” he concluded.

So can there really be legal action?

The arguments being made is that after so much time and money was wasted on a Din Torah, the community was let down.

Crime of Silence: Passivity Vs. Political Correctness

November 20, 2010

“Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of creative alternatives for responding to conflict… (Dorothy Thompson).”

“In this very real world, good doesn’t drive out evil. Evil doesn’t drive out good. But the energetic displaces the passive (William Bernbach).”

Having become increasingly committed to Torah Judaism, a woman once lamented in bemusement: “Rabbi, will my moral conflicts ever end? I had hoped, in embracing Judaism, to no longer struggle with issues of moral substance.” After all, is that not what Judaism is about? Yet, it had not turned out that way in the least,” she proceeded in exasperation, “To the contrary; my struggles have become considerably amplified.”

Was the woman right? Do our struggles with right and wrong ever end? Does it ever become obvious how do deal with aggression? Is the fine line between justice and revenge ever clearly defined? Will we ever be certain when to be passive and when to react, and how forceful a reaction is appropriate?

Will we ever know, with unequivocal certainty, when to protest and when to bite our tongues; when to bestow love and when to apply discipline? If these issues have dogged man in the past, the challenge is that much more intensified in our age of political correctness.

While the origins of political correctness is rooted in noble intentions, like so many other good ideas, its benefit was short lived.

Political correctness has been quickly pushed to a counterproductive extreme; whose purpose is to avoid offending anyone. Offending someone has become the ultimate evil to be avoided at all cost. The result of this new creed is not more civil debate, but rather no debate at all. The latter is robbing society of fundamental freedoms.

How Many of These 311 Calls Were Made in Crown Heights to Masser On a Neighbor?

November 1, 2010

There were 34,522 complaints called in to 311 between September 8 and September 15, 2010. Here are the most common, plotted by time of day. Illustration: Pitch Interactive

New Yorkers are accustomed to strong odors, but several years ago a new aroma began wafting through the city’s streets, a smell that was more unnerving than the usual offenders (trash, sweat, urine) precisely because it was so delightful: the sweet, unmistakable scent of maple syrup. It was a fickle miasma, though, draping itself over Morningside Heights one afternoon, disappearing for weeks, reemerging in Chelsea for a few passing hours before vanishing again. Fearing a chemical warfare attack, perhaps from the Aunt Jemima wing of al Qaeda, hundreds of New Yorkers reported the smell to authorities. The New York Times first wrote about it in October 2005; local blogs covered each outbreak, augmented by firsthand reports in their comment threads.

The city quickly determined that the odor was harmless, but the mystery of its origin persisted for four years. During maple syrup events, as they came to be called, operators at the city’s popular NYC311 call center—set up to field complaints and provide information on school closings and the like—were instructed to reassure callers that they could go about their business as usual.

BIG MEETING

October 11, 2010

Developing Story:

10am

MAJOR/BIG MEETING TAKING PLACE NOW AT THE CHJCC OFFICE WITH THE BIG [PRECINCT] BOSSES AND PEOPLE FROM THE MAYORS OFFICE.

UPDATE: About 11am the meeting ended.

The District Attorney was present as-well.

Anybody who might have any details regarding what this meeting was about, please share with the rest of us.

Exit Question: Could this meeting have been about helping the Six Jews (Shomrim Volunteers) from our Crown Heights community about to face trial as a result of a vicious blood libel/Mesira and political pressure?

Now wait, that was a year ago (October 14th, 2009) and there was no meeting regarding Shomrim Six then.

The Mosser Paul Huebner currently has a $144 million dollar lawsuit pending against the Shomrim Six.

UPDATE: 10-12-10 9:45am

Its been 24 hours since the “BIG meeting” and yet none of the Crown Heights based web sites have any post about it, why is that (where is Jihad.info and COLlive – both Chanina Sperlin payouts)?

Such a big meeting, what was it about?

WIS was informed that the Mosser Henna White was there as-well.

WHAT IS ‘YADIN YADIN’

September 20, 2010

AND IS IT IMPORTANT FOR A RABBI TO  HAVE IN-ORDER TO JOIN A BEIS DIN AND NO LESS A BEIS DIN OF A LARGE COMMUNITY?

Types of Semicha:

The Talmud lists three classes of semicha issued:

Yoreh Yoreh:
The recipient of this semicha demonstrated sufficient education and proper judgment to be able to render halachic judgments on matters of religious law as it pertains to daily life such as kashrut, nidda, and permissible or forbidden activities on Shabbos or Yom Tov.

Yadin Yadin:
The recipient of this semicha demonstrated sufficient education and proper judgment to be able to render halachic judgments on matters of religious law as it pertains to monetary and property disputes.

Yatir Bechorot Yatir:
The recipient of this semicha demonstrated sufficient education and proper judgment to determine the ritual status of firstborn animals that have developed a blemish. This degree required extensive veterinary knowledge.

While the first two classes are still issued today, the last one is not.

Yadin Yadin in basically like doing internship.  The Rabbi to be sites at Din Torahs to watch and learn, every professional (Doctors and lawyers, judges to be etc…) does this and so should a Rov of a Beis Din.

The main and ONLY purpose of a Beis Din is to conduct Din Torahs between fellow Jews, everything else is secondary.

A robust and healthy legal system, administering justice fairly, creates a society worthy of G-d’s blessings. Establishing a system of judges, courts, and officials to maintain and enforce the law is a far-reaching responsibility. This precept translates the ideals of our personal life into a formal order for society at large. It is the extension and guarantee of all the preceding laws. (1 of the 7 Noahide Laws).

So yes my brothers and sisters, it is very important (a must) that a Rov of a Beis Din have the proper training and experience in ALL aspects of his expertise. Just as one would hire only an experience lawyer to fight a tough case or one would look for the best doctor to fight a tough illness (G-d spear us), so to one must look for only an experienced Rov to deal with matters of Din Torah which effect the entire community.

WIS would like to hear from you – use comments system to share your knowledge and opinion on the matter.

Fencing: A Massage To Zaki And All

June 23, 2010

"How long will you waver between two opinions?" - Fencing is dangerous to the person doing it and to everybody else.

What is being written bellow applies to everybody.

It is the communities hope that you chose right over wrong. Do  not play a politician and make everything about right and left (this side or that). Must impotently use common sense and you will be all right.

In truth/Emes there is only one side.

Some facts that must be considered and detrimental if ignored. Sticking your head in the ground and ignoring certain facts of wrong doing will only prove detrimental to true peace.

What the people want, what the people voted for. The people voted against Mesira and those who carry them out. There is no need to hang out with these Mosrim. If they are flat-lining, then so be it, no need for you to give them CPR and bring them back to life. That would be contrary to what the people voted for.

If you hang out with these Mosrim your end will be as theirs was.

When the people saw this post on Collive (sister site to chabad.info) the following thoughts crossed our minds.

It seems Zaki has no back bone to stand up for what is right, he’s appearing to be a “want to get along kinda guy” and this worrisome.

Zaki seems to be a bit too inexperienced and soft, Lets hope  he isn’t getting cooped; He didn’t need Sperlin to hold his hand and take him to the politicians.

Zaki Tamir made a bad move by allowing Sperlin to take him around to the politicians. It made him look weak and inexperienced. There is also the fact that the community voted the Moser Chanina Sperlin out, this means we don’t want to see his face representing us in any way or form.

Zaki may be getting intimidated behind the scenes, these Mosrim play hardball and they will use every dirty trick in the book to wear Zaki down.

For these very reasons you must stay away from them and let them fade away. Focus on doing what needs to be done and ignore them. By trying to pander to them, you will only keep them leaching to you and you will never get anything done. They will suck your blood (life line) dry.

You need to know the history of this Machlokes and who the players are (whos who). You also need to make alliance with people that get things done and have money asap,  get their backing quietly and immediately and behind the scenes so when these Mosrim try to stop donors you will have your back covered.  One good example would be a guy like Dovid Fisher, who has done so much  for Crown Heights -past, present and future. There are also many private  good organizations that have been doing just fine without help from politicians, meet with them, see how they click.

The likes of Abba Paltial: Having good friends and even better enemies.

“They say if you want to know who a person is, just look at who his friends are, I say you can also look at who his enemies are” (Glenn Beck)

WIS have lived in Crown Heights all his life. The only time WIS has heard or seen the name Abba Paltial is on propaganda promoting more Machlokes and strife. In  fact the first time WIS has seen how Mr. Paltial looks is in the recent post on Colive (sister site to chabad.info). Mr. Paltial is a hate monger and a trouble rouser, not someone you want on your side.

The fact is, the bad guys will always hate those that do good. Well, to bad on them. Who cares what they think, they are and should be irrelevant. If the Mosrim hate you, then you must be doing something right. If someone like Mr. Paltial is talking slake about you, then your in good standing. Look at it this way and you”l strive. Don’t let these Mosrim distract you with stupidity/propaganda. Three years will past in no time, so don’t waste it.

Best of luck!

V’lamalshinim….t’akeir ut’shabeir ut’mageir

January 13, 2010

In the b’racha V’lamalshinim, pause slightly between ut’mageir (“crush”) and v’tachnia (“and subdue”), in consonance with the kavana(1) that t’akeir ut’shabeir ut’mageir (“uproot, break, crush”) refer to the three kelipot(2) that must be completely eradicated. V’tachnia (“subdue”) refers to kelipat noga(3) that must be subdued, but can be purified.
